LISTEN IN: Maine entrepreneur to pitch live Tuesday morning to 3.5 million radio listeners

Kerry Gallivan, CEO of Chimani, on Tuesday morning will pitch his business to a live radio audience of 3.5 million people. Chimani is Kerry’s brainchild. It builds mobile apps that visitors to U.S. national parks can use to find out everything from which hiking trail to take to where to jump on a shuttle bus.

Pitching the business alone will provide great national attention to a local Maine startup (Gallivan lives in Yarmouth), but there’s also money and resources at stake. That’s where the listeners come in.

Gallivan will be one of three entrepreneurs to have two minutes to pitch a business idea on Dream Big America tomorrow morning. Once the pitches are made (if you can’t listen live, they will be available afterwards on the Dream Big America website), listeners vote on the pitch they like best. The winning idea proceeds to the monthly contest with the other weekly winners. The monthly winner receives seed money, mentorship and other start-up assistance and resources.

For a Maine-based, boot-strapping entrepreneur to get the chance to pitch on the show is great news. I hope you’ll listen in and, if you think Kerry’s got a good idea, vote to support him.

If you’ve never heard of Chimani, here’s a well-produced video that introduces the company’s apps.
