What do you think? Time Warner drops NECN, adds Al Jazeera America

Time Warner Cable is reportedly dropping New England Cable News from its channel lineup for customers in New England. NECN (not to be confused with NESN, the sports network) has a bureau in Portland and offers local and regional news 24 hours a day.

In a move Time Warner Cable says is unrelated, it will add Al Jazeera America to its lineup. AJA was launched this past January and offers national and international news, competing with the likes of CNN and MSNBC. It has 12 bureaus in the United States, the closest to Maine being in New York City, its headquarters.

I’d like to hear from Time Warner Cable customers in Maine who have thoughts on the changes they’ll see in their channel options.

Will you miss NECN and the local and regional news it offers?

Do you look forward to the more diverse national and international news that will be provided by Al Jazeera America?

Thanks,
